We’re J&R Health Insurance, a family-owned brokerage based in Washington State. We help people understand Medicare and the ACA Marketplace, and how to choose coverage with confidence. We endeavor to stay your go-to resource long after you enroll. There’s never any cost to you to work with us, and never any obligation to enroll.

Your privacy and your health information

Some of what you share with us (even just that you are looking into Medicare or other health coverage) can be “consumer health data” under certain state laws. We keep a separate, dedicated policy that explains how we handle this data, the choices you have, and how to ask us to delete it.

What we do

Medicare is our focus. We present Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans from the carriers we work with, and we help you compare them and enroll. We also work with individuals and families who buy their own coverage, including people who are self-employed or retiring before 65, helping them compare ACA marketplace plans and choose one that fits. Whichever applies to you, we explain the options in plain English.

New to Medicare and just want to understand how it works? Our plain-language Medicare 101 guide covers the parts, the costs, and the timing. And if you’re a veteran, we can explain how VA, CHAMPVA, or TRICARE for Life works alongside Medicare. That part is education and referral only.

How it works

  1. Reach out

    Get in touch by phone or through the contact form, and tell us where you are in the process.

  2. We listen and compare

    We listen first, then explain your options in plain words, including what the plans we offer cost and cover.

  3. You choose

    If a plan fits, we help you enroll. The carrier pays us, at no added cost to you.

For Medicare Part D, we show you how to enroll yourself at Medicare.gov. Either way, we stay available afterward when questions come up, and you won’t get a bill from us.

Why people like working with us

There’s no cost to work with us. A carrier pays us a commission only if you enroll through one of their plans, and that doesn’t add anything to the price you pay. There’s never any obligation to enroll.

You work with us directly, not a call center. We’re a small, family-owned agency in Puyallup, licensed in Washington, Oregon, Georgia, and Tennessee, and most of our clients come to us by word of mouth. We try to be the person you call with questions all year, not just at sign-up.

We complete annual Medicare certification, including yearly recertification and testing through our FMO and CMS-compliance partner, Advocate Health Advisors, so our guidance stays current. And we keep your information private: no advertising trackers following you around the web, and nothing about you sold to anyone.

Who we work with

We work with people of all ages, but specialize in helping those who are turning 65 and starting Medicare, and people already on Medicare who just want a plain-language review of what they have. We also specialize in helping veterans, and we explain how VA, CHAMPVA, or TRICARE for Life fits with Medicare.

If you’re self-employed, retiring before 65, or between jobs, we can help you compare your own coverage through the ACA marketplace.

We are currently operating in Washington, Oregon, Georgia, and Tennessee.
