Our services
We’re here to help you make sense of your coverage options and choose a plan that fits your life, with no cost to you and no pressure. We do a few things, and we try to do them well: Medicare enrollment, help for veterans coordinating their benefits with Medicare, and Individual and Family coverage through the ACA marketplace.
There’s never a cost to work with us
Our guidance, plan reviews, and enrollment help all come at no cost to you. We are not tied to a single insurance carrier: we are contracted with many of the leading carriers in the states where we’re licensed, so we can compare a range of plans and help you find coverage that fits your health needs and your budget. We are compensated directly by the carriers, and that does not change your premium: you pay the same premium you would by going directly to the insurance company.
J&R Health Insurance are awesome! They make finding the best insurance and the best rate so easy! They are kind and caring who look out for the clients best interest. I’ve used their services since I got on Medicare and they have been fantastic. Such a blessing!

Medicare

Whether you’re new to it or rethinking a plan you already have, we’ll walk you through your options in plain English and help you compare what’s actually available where you live. We present Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans from the carriers we work with.
We start by listening. Your doctors, your prescriptions, your budget, and how you like to get care: that’s what a plan has to fit. From there we compare the plans we offer and walk through the real differences in networks, drug coverage, and out-of-pocket costs. If one fits, we handle the Medicare Advantage enrollment steps with you, following Medicare’s rules. Plans change every year, so we offer an annual review to keep your coverage matched to your life. And we stay your point of contact afterward. When there’s a card question, some billing confusion, or a network surprise, call us first and we’ll help you sort it out.
Part D prescription drug coverage. We’re glad to explain how Part D works and what to look for in a drug plan. We don’t enroll you in Part D. When you’re ready, you enroll yourself at Medicare.gov, and we’ll show you exactly where to go and what to have on hand (your medication list and your preferred pharmacy). Part D plans don’t pay us a commission, which is part of why we keep that step in your hands.
Turning 65

Approaching Medicare for the first time? We’ll help you understand your enrollment windows, the difference between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage, and how enrollment timing and late penalties work, so you start out with coverage that fits.
We help you map out your specific 7-month IEP window (3 months before your 65th birthday, your birthday month, and 3 months after) to avoid any coverage gaps or late enrollment penalties. If you are wondering whether you should delay Medicare because you are still working, we evaluate your current employer coverage and help you decide if transitioning to Medicare or staying on your group plan is the most cost-effective move.
Already on Medicare

Already enrolled? Your needs can change, and so can your plan. We can review your current coverage during the Annual Enrollment Period and help you decide whether to keep it or switch.
Let’s make sure your current plan still works for you. It is always beneficial to adjust coverage due to new health conditions or medications, or compare your current plan against newly available options in your area to find better value.
Medicare, veterans, and their families

For those who have served, we understand how your VA benefits, TRICARE, and CHAMPVA interact with Medicare and help you establish a coverage strategy that avoids gaps and maximizes your earned benefits, so you can decide what, if anything, to add. This is general education and referral only.
What we can explain:
- How VA health care and Medicare work as separate systems, and why many veterans keep both.
- What questions to bring to the VA, and where the free, official help lives.
We’re Vetecare Certified. Through our partner, Advocate Health Advisors, we hold a Vetecare Certified designation, which reflects a focus on helping veterans fit their federal benefits (VA, CHAMPVA, and TRICARE for Life) together with their other health coverage. It is not a VA accreditation, and it does not mean we work for, represent, or are endorsed by the VA. You can read about Advocate’s veterans program here: Advocate Health Advisors: who we serve, veterans.
J&R Health Insurance is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Department of Defense, TRICARE, CHAMPVA, Medicare, or any other government agency. For official VA information, contact the VA at 1-800-827-1000 or VA.gov. We are not accredited by the VA, and we do not prepare, file, or represent you on VA claims. If you need help with a VA claim, free, VA-accredited assistance is available through Veterans Service Organizations and at VA.gov.
New to Medicare?
Medicare can feel like alphabet soup the first time you look at it. Our plain-English guide walks through the parts, what they cover, what they cost, and when to enroll. No sales pitch.
ACA Marketplace

Whether you need individual, family, or self-employed coverage, we help you find a plan that fits without paying for more than you need. We can help you compare plans, check your eligibility, and apply for any premium tax credits (APTC) you qualify for, which can lower your monthly premium, sometimes by quite a bit. We’ll walk you through how the plans differ, what they cover, and what they cost, and help you choose one that fits your budget and your doctors.
Just let us know your requirements (for example, “I want to keep my PCP”) and we’ll provide you with personalized plan options from various carriers.
Carriers we partner with
We’re an independent brokerage, so we’re able to work with a number of different carriers and compare the plans they offer. Our view of the market is limited to the carriers we work with, including the following.
